Podlasie is a paradise for birds and animals, cultures, customs, culinary traditions and religions like nowhere else in Poland.
We all meet in Warsaw to begin our incredible trip to Bialystok, where we will visit The Branicki Palce, a magnificent residence of a great nobel, well known as “Versailles of the North”.
After that, we will head towards Narew National Park. On our way to Narew National Park we will stop to enjoy meal at one of the traditional restaurants. The Narew National Park is home to almost half of all the water flora which can be found in Poland. Many varieties of the park’s plants are under total protection. It is also a heaven for extremely rare species of birds living in water – swamp environment. More than 200 bird species recorded, 154 are nesting species. The Narew National Park covers only a portion of the interesting Narew river valley. The river served for centuries as a transport route along which human activities were concentrated. One of the attractions of our visit in the Park will be crossing the river using floating bridges fixed on the ropes. We would also be able to admire the stunning view from the observation tower located in the Park.
On our way back to the hotel we will stop in Tykocin, which was one of the most important Jewish centres in the First Polish Republic and one of the favourite places of the Lithuanian princes and Polish kings, most prominently Zygmunt August. This lovely town set on the river Narew, preserve the Synagogue, one of the oldest and the biggest in Poland. Delicious dinner will be waiting for us to enjoy upon our arrival to the hotel.
This morning we will make our way to Białowieski Park Narodowy. This National Park is the oldest primeval forest in Europe listed on UNESCO as a World Heritage site. European bison, the biggest European land mammal is the symbol of the Park.
The next our stop is Kruszyniany which is famous of its wooden Muslim mosque – one of the two oldest in Poland – dating back to the 18th century. Before we get to the next sightseeing site, there will be a break for lunch at local restaurant.
Supraśl Orthodox Monastery will be our last place we visit. The Supraśl Orthodox Monastery is one of the town’s important sights. A part of monastic complex houses the one of its kind Museum of Icons.
Return to Warsaw in the evening.
