The driest corner of Poland is Bledowska Desert 10 km long area which is featured in the film “Pharaoh”. In the Slowinski National Park there are the most unusual monumental shifting dunes which move at speeds as fast as 10 meters per year. They have already engulfed several villages!
Last original primary lowland forest in Europe?
Polish natural pearl of UNESCO list wonders is the Puszcza Bialowieska – the last natural lowland forest on the continent, honored with entries on both the List of Biosphere Reserves. It is the last fragment of virgin forest on the European plain inhabited by almost 400 wild bison. You can walk in the “oak trail”, marked out between centuries-old oak trees, who are named after the Polish and Lithuanian kings and princes who once hunted in this forest.
