Highlights of Lodz – City Break

Lodz is the third biggest city in Poland, with a long history as a textile industrial centre. The city combined the modern and industrial world. The division for poor and rich, which existed side by side is still noticeable in the building architecture. Well preserved old workers housing estates contrast with the most glamorous residences.

During your tour, you will see the most important highlights of Lodz such as Ksiezy Mlyn, which is an industrial district of Lodz and the factory of Karol Scheibler, famous industry leader.

Lodz has the largest pedestrian street in whole Europe called the Piotrowska Street. We won’t miss to take a walk down this street as well!

On our list of places to visit is the biggest shopping centre in Central Europe, called Manufaktura. It was built in an old factory, which belonged to Izrael Poznanski, one of the richest businessman in Lodz. His own Palace called today Poznanski Palace will be also visited by us.

Day 1

ARRIVAL – LODZ

Strat discovering Lodz, one of the world’s most important textile centres, from following the traces of 19 century factory owners. Admire renovated factories of Lodz, and visit Manufactura, which used to be a red brick factory, recently transformed into a centre of art, entertainment and shopping paradise.

Walk down the Piotrowska Street, full of bars and restaurants. Make sure to look around the buildings to spot the art street. Many of the old and run down sides of buildings, have been transformed into amazing pieces of art.

During your walk you will come across places connecting to Jewish history. Lodz’s Jewish cemetery is the largest in Europe and the Radegast Station is a place, from where more than 140 000 (mostly Jews), were deported to German concentration camps in Poland. In the evening, enjoy dinner at one of the local restaurants.

Day 2

ARRIVAL – LODZ

In the morning, visit Ksiezy Mlyn district, probably one of the most beautiful places in Lodz. It is a pearl of 19th century residential complex, including houses, school and shops. The district was created by Karol Scheibler, who in 1855 built his first factory and year later erected his palace. He was also a founder of the biggest textiles factory in Europe.
